I dabble in art, design, craft and curation.
My work is mainly concerned with ideas of interactivity and accessibility. I do not restrict myself by having a fixed role as an Artist and neither do I want to restrict my works audience by making art just for Artists.
I am interested in creating works (or experiences) that not only enables an audience’s participation, but also enables them to take ownership of the artwork through their creative involvement. Taking a D.I.Y. approach and making use of alternative spaces for exhibiting art, I wish to remove the feeling of intimidation, break down cultural barriers, and allow everyone access to artmaking.
I have been involved in theartmarket, a gallery/shop in Leeds City Centre, since it was created in December 2006 by Zoe Sawyer and Anna Tonks. Co-directors have also included Lil Adams, Sarah Dee Barrett and Joe Mawson. theartmarket has played host to a variety of exciting events and exhibitions and it aims to support local emerging artists, as well as international artists.
I also enjoy feasting on cheese and making new mix CDs.
