Leeds Degree Shows Adventure documents my journey around Leeds Fine Art degree shows at University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006 and 2007. The photographs explore my own interaction with other graduate’s work. Playfully negotiating ideas around Authorship, an Artists’ Ego, Art Education and Artwork-as-backdrop it relates to my own position as a recent Artist Graduate.

The project uses audience and artist interactions with the work as the central focus. The photographs are documents of interactions already taken place.

Archive: Leeds is a collaboration with Sarah Dee Barrett

As artists interested in working in the public realm, we felt the need for a comprehensive resource looking at the possibilities of spaces, public and private, for creative events and exhibitions.  Archive: Leeds is a resource of information regarding art activity in Leeds, focusing on the usage of venues and spaces.  The aim of the project was to make useful information freely available to encourage creative activity in the city.

There are no restrictions on what is seen as a “venue,” all spaces are considered from art galleries to underpasses. Over time the archive will be gradually expanded to include information on useful local resources, contacts and art groups in the area.

Archive: Leeds is now permanently housed in theartmarket, Leeds and can be accessed during its opening times.

Plush audience

Love SlugRat and Handy made at the Re-Toyed Trash plush workshops in May.

19th-22nd May 2007

I held two plush character workshops as part of Re-Toyed Trash in an abandoned unit in the Merrion Market, Leeds.  The workshops were in association with theartmarket’s ‘Corner in the Market’ programme for Situation Leeds festival.  One of the workshops was with Nicolar Bell who had created templates of her plush foxes for other people to make their own.  All work made in these workshops then went on to be displayed in a exhibition of Re-Toyed Trash work.

April 2007

I ran a toy making workshop during Ladyfest Leeds festival as part of Re-Toyed Trash.  To make the trash toys we were sticking together a number of discarded items such as broken toys, broken electrical equipment and abandoned shop stock.
